PM Awas Yojana 2021 Gramin:PMAY-G Scheme Details

PM Awas Yojana Gramin 2021 (PMAY -G) scheme was launched to enhance housing facilities for all. The central government of India has the vision to provide affordable “Housing for All” by 2022.

The main goal of this yojana is to provide pucca houses with certain basic facilities. This program is designed for homeless people and the people living in kaccha houses or heavily damaged houses.

Currently, under the PM Awas Yojana Gramin scheme, the minimum size of the houses to be built has been increased to 25 square meters from 20 square meters.

PM Awas Yojana interest rates start at 6.50% per annum and can be taken for a period of 20 years. The last date to avail the PM Awas Yojana CLLS scheme for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Low Income Group (LIG) categories has been extended until March 31, 2022.

Type of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana 

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana has two sub-sections which are divided according to their area of operation. These two are: 

  • PM Awas Yojana Gramin
  • PM Awas Yojana Urban

PM Awas Yojana Gramin 2021

PM Awas Yojana Gramin, formerly known as Indira Awas Yojana (IAY), is the flagship of a social welfare program launched by the Central Government of India to provide houses for the poor living in rural India.

A similar scheme for the poor living in urban areas was introduced in 2015 as housing for all by 2022. In 1985, then Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi started Indira Awas Yojana as one of the Ministry of Rural Development’s plans to build houses in villages for BPL families.

The program aims to provide affordable and easy to access housing to the poor in rural areas of India (excluding Delhi and Chandigarh). 

Under PM Awas Yojana, the Central Government of Indian and respective state governments share the house building cost at a rate of 60:40 for the plains and 90:10 for the north-eastern and the hills areas.



PM Awas Yojana Urban 2021

PM Awas Yojana urban (PMAYU), as its name suggests, focuses on urban locations of India. Currently, 4331 cities and towns are registered in this scheme. This scheme is set to operate under three different phases:

  • The government under phase one will focus on reaching 100 cities in different states throughout the country from April 2015 to March 2017.
  • Under phase two the government will focus on reaching 200 more cities in different states and UTs from April 2017 to March 2019 throughout the country.
  • The government under the third phase will focus on reaching the remaining cities in phases 1 and 2 and reaching the goal by the end of March 2022.

 PM Awas Yojana Eligibility Criteria

The government will select the beneficiaries for PM Awas Yojana from the Socio-Economic and Caste Census 2011 (SECC 2011). Before framing the list under PM Awas Yojana, the village panchayat together with the Tehsils will be considered for consultation with the beneficiaries.

This will ensure the transparency of the project and also the fact that only those who deserve will get the assistance under this scheme. Some points regarding eligibility are as under:

  • The applicant’s family must not have a house in any part of the country (Homeless families).
  • In the event of a married couple, an exclusive or co-ownership agreement is allowed and both options will receive only one subsidy.
  • The applicant’s family should not benefit from any housing scheme started by the Indian Government.
  • Landless families who earn their income from casual labor.  
  • Families with no house or with one or two rooms having kaccha walls and roof.
  • Schedule Tribe, Schedule Cast, and others minority categories. 

PM Awas Yojana Documents Required

To avail of the benefit under PM Awas Yojana 2021 following documents are required:

 Identity Proof Documents:

  • Aadhaar Card
  • Voter Card
  • Passport
  • Driving License
  • Photo ID card issued by the Government 
  • Verified letter from a government official with a photograph

 Address Proof Documents:

  • Passport
  • Ration Card
  • Electricity bill
  • Driving License
  • Aadhaar Card
  • Voter ID card
  • Utility bill
  • Telephone bills
  • Verified letter from a government official with a photograph 
  • Bank Statement from post office saving account 
  • Copy of the deal while purchasing the property

 Other Documents

  • Affidavit cum declaration proving that the beneficiary’s family does not have a pucca house
  • If applicable, under-construction property declaration- construction contract with the supplier or builder, confirmation of the purchase of the property you want to buy, confirmation of the advance deposit of the property you want to buy.
  • Current loan detail if taken detail is to be provided through the bank statement. 
  • Every member who earns in the family has to provide a salary proof document. Salary slip copy for the last three months/letter of appointment /letter of annual increment/confirmation on the original form 16

  PM Awas Yojana Beneficiary List Gramin 2021

  • The purpose of the scheme is to meet the housing needs of the urban poor in the cities, including the poor in slums. A slum is defined as a densely populated area that includes at least 300 people or approximately 60 to 70 poorly built rental homes in an unhealthy environment that generally lacks adequate infrastructure and inadequate hygiene and drinking water.
  • Beneficiaries include the low-income group (LIG), the economically weak group (EWS), and the middle-income group (MIG). Yearly income for the low-income group is 3 to 6 lakhs, Rs. 3 lakhs is the annual income limit for EWS and Rs. more than 6 lakhs and less than 18 lakhs for Middle Income Group (MIG). Beneficiaries in the EWS category are eligible for support in all four verticals of the scheme, but the LIG and MIG categories are only eligible under only Credit linked subsidy scheme (CLSS). 
  • Individual loan applicants submit an affidavit/self-certificate as proof of their income so that they can be identified as the beneficiary of the LIC or EWS within the scheme.
  • The beneficiary family includes wife, husband, unmarried sons, or unmarried daughter.
  • In order to receive assistance from the scheme, the beneficiary family must not own Pucca house in its name or in the name of its family members in any region of India.
  • UTs/States may, at their discretion, decide on the limit date on which beneficiaries must reside in that urban area in order to be eligible for benefits under the scheme.

 How to Check Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin List 2020-21

  • Go to the official website of Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awaas Yojana at www.pmayg.nic.in
  • Click the Stakeholder option which is on the website’s home page
  • Under Stakeholder click on the IAY / PMAY-G beneficiary option.
  • After clicking on the IAY/PMAY-G option, a new window with the required information will open.
  • To check the list of PMAYG list enter the registration number and click on Submit button.
  • In case you do not have a registration number then click on the “Advance Search” option. You will go to a new page enter all the required information like your state, block, name, etc, and click on Search. 

Conclusion

PM Awas Yojana 2021 Gram (PMAYG) was started to fulfill housing shortages in rural areas and provide Pucca houses to the needy with some basic facilities and a clean kitchen for those people living in kuccha homes.

Under PM Awas Yojana the houses built are affordable and resistant to disasters. The minimum size of the house built under this scheme is 25 sq (square meters). 

Central and government share the costs at the ratio of 90:10 in hilly regions and 60:40 in the plains regions. Rs. 1.30 lakhs is given in hilly areas and Rs. 1.20 lakhs is given for plain areas.
